Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Director of dOCUMENTA13 (2012)

Over seven months the influential thinker and exhibition maker, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev is leading a series of research institutes and delivering three Leverhulme Lectures in Leeds and Manchester, speaking at the University of Huddersfield and at the Whitechapel Gallery, London. She is working with PhD, MA and BA students and leading the open Leverhulme Institutes while also participating in other events with local arts organizations and curators.

The project relates to CentreCATH’s research strands on memory, history and amnesia, social alienation and hospitality, indexicality and virtuality, while Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev is introducing major new themes around history and trauma, art as research, art’s relatin to other forms of knowledge, storytelling and imagination, human/nonhuman relations to matter, otherness, time, space, location, visibility and invisibility, precarity and change.
